Our family business

Those sample books with worn covers on which my grandmother kept track of the inventory with a pencil...

It was the 80s when I started visiting my grandparents in their wallpaper shop. I remember the scent of the paper samples and the weight of the pages.

There were wallpapers with carved foam plastic that were all the rage at the time. I used to run my hand over them to feel the relief pattern with my fingertips. Every now and then I secretly scraped off a few pieces..

In those days wallpaper was not considered a luxury decorative accessory. Of course some brands or designs were more valuable or sough-after than others. I remember many flower designs, a few lines and many damasks. Pink and white are the colours that come to mind but I was a little girl so that may just be a coincidence..! The offer wasn't very rich and at the time only really wealthy people would buy with the help of an architect and even fewer interior designers were seen.

Even though I grew up among shelves full of wallpaper and fabric sample books, I never thought I would be part of this world.

I wanted to work in communications and so after getting my degree in Rome, I left for London where I ended up working in advertising: it was my dream at the time.

10 years later I had gained wonderful experiences in one of the most fun creative industries. I have worked on international acclaimed brands, I have met movie stars and famous athletes, I have traveled to many countries and shot TV and press campaigns then seen everywhere in the world. It's bee really great and I am very grateful for those years.

While I was living my life and learning all these beautiful things, that special shop that smelled of paper and paint had become a beautiful showroom thanks to my parents' hard work. Those sample books with worn covers on which my grandmother kept track of the inventory in pencil had become designer books with valuable collections wall coverings.

When I started Deco Interni, I promised to always curate our offer and hand-pick the pieces from each collection. My choice is based on the quality of the product and the emotion it brings me.

With the birth of my children, the desire to create something that brought together all my passions and experiences combined with the desire to return to my roots and pay homage to them. The desire to continue a family journey for them and for me has transformed into a project: Deco Interni.

The greatest motivation remains making my children as proud of me as I am of my parents and my family.

I believe that fabrics and wallpapers should evoke an emotion. And it is that emotion that must guide the choice.

When I started Deco Interni, I promised always curate our offer and hand-pick the pieces from each collection. My choice is based on the quality of the product and the emotion it brings me.

Thanks to my family history, interior design for me is 'home' in the most romantic sense of the term. And with Deco Interni I want to guide you in the creation of your home, a safe and warm space for your family.

Giorgia.
